Patty Johnson LCSW Therapist in Morgan, Utah
I became a therapist because I believe most people are doing the best they can with what they have, and that the right support at the right time changes things in ways that last.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) based in Morgan, Utah. I hold a Master of Social Work from Fordham University and bring over a decade of clinical experience from hospital and outpatient mental health settings. I am in-network with SelectHealth, Regence BlueCrossBlueShield, and PEHP.
What I Specialize In:
My work centers on three areas: helping individuals heal from emotionally unhealthy or abusive relationships, supporting parents through high-conflict co-parenting, and working with women and individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, eating disorders, relationship or couples’ conflict, burnout, identity loss, and major life transitions. These are not arbitrary specialties. They reflect the real experiences of the people I work with most, and the clinical work I find most meaningful.
My Approach:
I use evidence-based approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I’m also in the process of EMDR certification. In practice, this means I draw on whichever combination of tools fits what you actually need rather than applying a single method to everyone.
My style is direct without being harsh, honest without being cold, and paced to support emotional safety. I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, when you understand what we are doing and why, and when you feel like a participant in the process rather than a subject of it.
A Note on My Perspective:
My work is grounded in the understanding that emotional harm can coexist with love, attachment, and good intentions. Naming something harmful clearly while holding compassion for everyone involved is not contradictory. In my experience, it is necessary for real healing to happen.
I see clients in person in Morgan, Utah and via telehealth throughout the state. I serve individuals in Weber County, Mountain Green, Ogden, Layton, Farmington, Salt Lake City, Davis County, and beyond.
